Dr. Bertin's
Practice
In addition to a medical
evaluation, the initial appointments are used to explore psychological, family and educational factors that may be causing
problems. Typically completed over the course of two visits, the evaluation
includes a detailed history along with physical and neurological examinations. Developmental and psychological tests are used
to explore your child’s cognitive, language and motor abilities, academic skills, or specific aspects of their
development and behavior.
At the end of Dr. Bertin’s
evaluation a detailed plan will be given to you discussing, as needed, appropriate medical testing and interventions, behavioral
management, school placement, other related services and further testing needs. Problems
such as ADHD, PDD and autism have complex effects requiring care that goes beyond medication management. Dr. Bertin will work with you, your pediatrician and other therapists to coordinate medical management,
academic recommendations, community services, and interventions at home.
Follow-up appointments
are scheduled to monitor overall development and, when needed, medication use, as well as for long term guidance in coordinating
care for your child's evolving needs.
